Chiesa della Maddalena di Silì
Chiesa della Maddalena di Silì
In the urban fabric of Oristano stands the Church of the Maddalena di Silì, a building that harmoniously blends Gothic and Romanesque architectural elements. Its origins date back to the 14th century, a period that has left an indelible imprint on its structure. Made of a combination of volcanic stone and limestone, the church has a tripartite façade, characterised by angular pilasters and pilasters crowned by hanging arches, typical elements of Romanesque architecture. The central portal is distinguished by capitals decorated with plant motifs, adding a touch of refinement to the whole. The interior is developed in a single nave, giving the building an intimate and cosy atmosphere. The apse, an architectonic element of particular interest, is lit by a single-light window and a large three-light mullioned window, which contribute to creating a suggestive play of light within the sacred space.
