Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Michele Arcangelo

Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo

A religious building located in Aritzo, it is a significant example of Sardinian architecture that has undergone multiple transformations over the centuries. Presumably founded on a Romanesque plan, it has seen numerous restorations that have modified its original appearance. The façade features distinctive architectural elements: round arches, characteristic of the Romanesque style, a portal surmounted by a lunette decorated with a painting depicting Saint Michael Archangel. The gable is enriched by a central rose window, flanked by two single-lancet windows, elements that contribute to the building's interior lighting. The interior preserves several original architectural elements, including round arches and capitals, which testify to its ancient origin. The artistic heritage includes works of considerable historical and artistic interest: an 18th-century statue of St. Christopher and an organ from the 18th century, located in the sacristy. These architectural and artistic elements make it an important historical document, reflecting the evolution of architectural styles and devotional practices in Sardinia from the medieval period to the modern age.
