Chiesa di Santa Lucia
Chiesa di Santa Lucia
Nestled in the rural landscape of Monastir, the Romanesque church of Santa Lucia stands as a bridge between the urban and agricultural environment, serving as a landmark for the local community. Dating back to the end of the 13th century, its construction is documented from the 14th century as an integral part of Baratuili, near the medieval castle of Baradili, now reduced to ruins. The building is distinguished by its simple structure, consisting of a single nave without an apse, to which is added a portico, probably dating back to the 17th century. The façade preserves precious Romanesque elements, including an elegant curved portal, surmounted by a characteristic bell gable. The interior of the church houses an artistic treasure of considerable value: the 17th-century Retablo dedicated to St. Lucy. This sacred place is of fundamental importance to the local community, which celebrates its festivity on the last Sunday of August with an evocative procession, keeping alive a centuries-old tradition.
